Born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Earnest Griffin Jr. always had an ear for good music. He listened to all genres of music and would debate about what group or artist was better than the next.
In 2001 Earnest joined the USN to start a career and to travel the world. During his four years of service, Earnest enjoyed the brotherhood of the military and being able to serve with and learn about different nationalities. He has stated, that these were the best four years of his life and that they shaped him into being the man he is today and taught him certain core values that his parents weren’t able to teach him. Even though he had a lot of memorable times in the military, he was still faced with a big obstacle called war. For a young man leaving home, and having to tackle life on his own, he turned to music as a way to cope with the reality of it all.
Earnest, now known as Big Griff, moved to New Jersey where he landed a 360 based deal with the record label Artistic Reflect. While on the label, he learned more about the writing and delivery process in the studio which pushed him to the forefront.
In 2011 Big Griff made his way back home to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. His name started to heat up in the streets of Broward County. Big Griff dropped the track called “Come Home”, which he received great reviews for. Even though he received good feedback, after dropping the track, Big Griff wasn’t sure if rapping was for him. He decided to go on a hiatus but still continued to write rhymes. He received a phone call in 2015 that made him realize he needed to take his talents of rapping to the next level. Big Griff surrounded himself with a great team and dropped a track and video for “FATBOI2COOL”, which can be found on any audio retailer. The success of “FATBOI2COOL” has pushed him to the top of the Ft. Lauderdale charts and also landed him the opportunity to write a track for the Canada-based indie film titled “The Devil’s Hand”.
Big Griff is making major moves in the music industry. Not only was he able to make the lead track in the indie film “The Devil’s Hand”, he had the opportunity to bless the red carpet for the premiere of the film and also bless the streets of Toronto with filming the music video for the track as well. The accomplishments don’t stop there. Big Griff has radio play on 103.7 in middle Ga., Highly Unique Radio in Atlanta, and also did a hot drop for DJ Tremayne on 96.7 FM in Valdosta. He has performed in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and Canada. He has released his first mixtape titled, “The Mind of Griff” which can be found everywhere. Big things are in store for this up-and-coming artist. When asked the question: What motivates you to go so hard in this music industry? His response verbatim was, “I want to leave a legacy.”
