Host of the “LA Smooth Show” – Tuesday 7pm-9pm (ET)
– A veteran to the music business for more than ten years, LA Smooth was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Miami, FL – although LA is frequently mistaken for Hispanic he is actually of Haitian descent.
Smooth started at VIDEO MIX, a local music TV show on Comcast, which aired from South Broward to Key West in 2003, with over 400,000 viewers live. He then moved on to a television show called “Mun2 Top Ten Countdown” which aired in Texas, New York, California, Miami, Puerto Rico and South America. In 2007 Smooth was able to launch an opportunity in a major radio station in CBS, known as B106 located in West Palm Beach, Fl. While working there, he hosted the late night show called “The two Hour Love” which aired Sunday nights. On March 2008, he joined the Power 96 family, and has been there since.
For the first two years at Power96 Smooth hosted the “Power Love Hour” every Sunday night and had an opportunity to interview artists such as: Pitbull, Trina, Rick Ross, Flo-rida, Sean Paul, Wyclef, Akon and more. LA Smooth was then offered a position as Event Coordinator for the Promotions Department.
As an Event Coordinator Smooth was able to give back to the community. He’s completed many community service activities, for example: Speaking to chilren at Somerset Academy Charter Middle School and Carol City Elementary regarding the FCAT, motivating them giving them the confidence to succeed on their exams. He’s also participated in Career Day at Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School and Bowman Foster Ashe Elementary. He coordinated Becca’s Closet; which is a charity that assists girls who are not able to afford prom dresses. When the tragic earthquake took place in Haiti in 2010, Smooth, the Beasley Group and Red Cross were committed to help and in twelve hours collected 36 tons of supplies, which included water, canned foods, clothing and shoes. In 2011, Smooth and the Power 96 team dedicated themselves to give back to Miami Children’s Hospital by raising over $200,000 in 36 hours for the Radio Lollipop Charity and has given back to many more communities.
LA Smooth was recognized by the Mayor of Miami, Manny Diaz and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his contributions to the community. LA Smooth is someone who genuinely cares about the community and is engaged in helping future generations.
