I recently read an article where Young Thug talked about why he wouldn’t buy Jay-Z’s music. He did however give Jay-Z credit for having some of the sickest lyrics ever and simply stated that he wouldn’t want to be rapping when he’s 50 years old. Personally I don’t see anything wrong with saying that you don’t want to be rapping at 50 years old.
I’m also a little disturbed that AllHipHop was so upset that Young Thug feels this way. Contrary to popular belief or mainstream media, not everyone thinks that Jay Z is the all-in-all of rap music – Yes he’s good, and yes he has great lyrics. But, not everyone likes his (Jay Z’s) style of rap music. That doesn’t mean it isn’t good, its just means that people are different and like different things.
In their quest to put down Young Thug and call him ignorant, I think they came off as pretty ignorant with their put-downs and name calling. I mean, do you really need to put someone down because they don’t agree with what you believe is right? They mentioned the fact that Jay-Z was practically a billionaire and that he’s still making hit records. That still doesn’t mean that everyone likes Jay-Z or wants to listen to him. Everyone who is a billionaire or millionaire is not necessarily “like” or “listened” to by everyone. Being a billionaire means you’re a good business person and that you know how to handle your money. Are his records timeless? Well, that is also a matter of opinion. They’re timeless to the people who like them. I personally don’t like a lot of his music. I think TuPac’s records are timeless, but that is my opinion. AllHipHop also went on to say that Jay Z continues to rap because he’s a musician. Where I come from, musicians either write music or play instruments – does Jay Z do either? I don’t know, you tell me!
