ShortyDooWop is a hip hop culture fanatic taking her passion to multi-media. She was born and raised in Providence, RI to Dominican parents. Growing up in the 80’s she was heavily influenced by New York Hip Hop. The first time she heard a female rapper was Roxanne Shante as a child, and then decided she wanted to rap when she heard MC Lyte. She was the only girl in her breakdancing crew. In 1994 she moved to Fort Myers, FL area with her family. There she started expanding her Hip Hop knowledge with the southern influence. She found a love for communications and aspired to be in radio or tv. Now she resides with her family in Miami, FL. Her passion for Hip Hop grew on her son who became a DJ. She now has a podcast with her son, DJ Finesco, where they talk about Hip Hop & Pop culture and you can get two different generational perspectives on any given subject.
ShortyDooWop is currently a grad student at Full Sail University studying New Media Journalism. Her vision for creating her Vibin’ Out brand is to expand her passion for Hip Hop to all media channels possible. Her radio idol has always been Angie Martinez and is the person that has influenced her the most in Hip Hop journalism.
